Control with your VOICE

Step 8: Control with your voice

Now things are going to step up a few notches. You will by now realize that controlling devices using their original remote control or light switch was slow but people don't always have a mobile or table with them, and so the manual switch still gets used.

You will also begin to appreciate how useful it is to be able to run out of the house and shut things down while your on route, or the reverse when on the way home.

However, adding voice activation takes your smart home to another level. Using a simple download for your android (or using Apple, but we will get to that later), you can set up a number of sequences (called tasks) that will be used in response to your voice commands!

The first step in this project is to get it working on an android phone using Tasker. Then you will be able to execute these using Google Home or Amazon echo via a free service called IFTTT.

In this project you should just focus on getting the voice activation working using tasker and we will look at these other options in the next project.
